Hello! My name is Katie.
I’m a professional makeup artist from Riverton, Utah. My love for makeup goes back further than I can remember. I was a small child when my mother let me start playing with makeup and I am so blessed to have cultured that passion and turned into my professional career.
I specialize in beauty and bridal makeup, and I have been very lucky to have my work featured in many bridal magazines and editorials. I take pride in my craft and strive to make every client of mine feel their absolute best.
I am a mother to 3 boys and wife to a very supportive and loving man who spoils me. There are boys everywhere! But I love it, and I get my “girly things” fix when I work.
I always start with the eyes!
When applying eyeshadow, I sometimes experience a bit of fallout on the rest of the face, so starting with this step gives you a chance to clean it up before moving onto the skin.
After eyes, I prep and prime the face and neck. Then I apply a thin layer of foundation to give me a nice even base to work with. With a small, synthetic, buffing brush I apply HD Glamour Creme in shade Showstopper as an all over base. Showstopper is available as an individual dish, in the Neutral #2 Palette, or in the Super Neutral Palette, but make sure to use the shade closest to your client’s undertone.
Next, I contour
Then with the same buffing brush, I move on to accentuating her beautiful bone structure by contouring. With the shade Warm Umber I brush slightly underneath the cheekbones and blend it up on top the cheekbones. I also take it on top of the forehead, and jawline to add warmth and dimension.
Warm Umber is available as an individual dish, in the Neutral #3 Palette, or in the Super Neutral Palette, but make sure to use the shade best suited to your client’s undertone.
Highlight and blending it all together
With the shade Prima Donna, I added brightness to the center of her face by applying it to the center of the forehead, around the nose, and middle of the chin.
Because the HD Glamour creme is so smooth and blendable, I can easily blend my highlights and contours together using a blending sponge.
Prima Donna is available as an individual dish, in the Neutral #1 Palette, or in the Super Neutral Palette, but make sure to use the shade best suited to your client’s undertone.
Now to my favorite part – airbrush!
I use Graftobian GlamAire Airbrush makeup in Golden Sunset to add a thin layer of coverage and to seal in the makeup for a full day of wear.
Because the GlamAire Airbrush has a matte finish, it blends beautifully with the HD Glamour Cremes and illuminates the skin.
We get the best of both worlds: glowing skin with a full coverage that doesn’t budge!
Spot concealing
Any blemishes that need covering are taken care of with the airbrush, as it adds a thin but full coverage layer that is matte and lightweight.
However, if there are a few stubborn spots, there are several options: the GlamAire Corrector Line, the Global Corrector Palette or the 5-well Corrector Palettes are recommended.
Finishing touches
I use powdered bronzer to set the contour I’ve already laid down with the HD Glamour Creme. I add powdered blush and highlighter, apply my favorite lashes, finish up the eyes, and apply a nude glossy lip.
